Stay Compliant with Payday Super

Payday Super services from W Advisory Oran Park help employers meet the super rules that started on 1 July 2026. We check that your payroll calculates super on qualifying earnings, replace the closed Small Business Superannuation Clearing House, confirm your Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting, and forecast the weekly cash flow impact so on-time payments never strain your business.

For many local businesses, the harder part isn't the paperwork. It's the cash. Super used to leave your account once a quarter; now it leaves with every pay run, while customers may still take 30 to 60 days to pay you. We plan for that gap before it becomes a problem.

3 Reasons Oran Park Employers Trust Us With Payday Super

On Time, Every Payday

Payroll and clearing are set up so contributions arrive at the fund within the deadline, not just leave your account in time.

Calculated on the Right Earnings

Cash Flow Planned Ahead

Weekly forecasts show super alongside wages, GST and PAYG, so there are no surprises on payday.

What Changed Under Payday Super?

RuleWhat it means for your business
7-business-day deadlineThe fund must receive super within 7 business days of each payday. Paying on payday builds in a buffer for clearing delays.
20 days for new startersThe first contribution for a new employee, or to a new fund, has 20 business days. From the next payday, the 7-day rule applies.
Qualifying earningsSuper is calculated on qualifying earnings, which include ordinary time earnings, commissions and salary sacrificed amounts. Payroll codes need checking.
Out-of-cycle paymentsSuper on a bonus paid between regular paydays is due within 7 business days after the next regular payday.
STP every pay runQualifying earnings and super liability are reported each payday, so the ATO sees late or missing super quickly.
Clearing house closedThe ATO's free Small Business Superannuation Clearing House closed on 1 July 2026. Employers who used it need a new way to pay.
ATO-assessed chargeMissed deadlines lead to an ATO-assessed super guarantee charge, including notional earnings, an administrative uplift and possible choice loading.

Frequently
Asked
Questions
(FAQs)

1. When did Payday Super start?

Payday Super started on 1 July 2026. Super for earnings paid up to 30 June 2026 still followed the old quarterly rules, but every payday from 1 July 2026 onwards falls under the new regime, with contributions due at each employee's fund within 7 business days. We can check both your final quarter and your new setup.

2. What happens if I pay super late under Payday Super?

If super isn't received within 7 business days of payday, the ATO can issue a super guarantee charge assessment. It includes the shortfall, notional earnings on the late amount and an administrative uplift, which can be reduced if you make a voluntary disclosure before the ATO acts. Unpaid assessments can attract further interest and penalties.

3. The Small Business Superannuation Clearing House has closed. What should I use instead?

The Small Business Superannuation Clearing House closed permanently on 1 July 2026, so employers who relied on it need another way to pay. Most payroll software can pay super through SuperStream, or you can use a commercial clearing house. W Advisory Oran Park helps you choose and set up an option that suits your payroll and pay cycle.

4. Do I have to pay super for contractors?

You must pay super for contractors who are paid mainly for their labour because they count as employees for super guarantee purposes. This is common with subcontractors in trades and construction. Our team reviews your contractor arrangements and makes sure anyone who qualifies is included in your Payday Super payments.

5. Is the ATO giving employers any leeway in the first year?

The ATO has outlined a risk-based approach for the first year of Payday Super. Employers who tried to pay correctly and on time, hit a problem such as a rejected payment, and fixed it promptly are unlikely to face compliance action. That leeway depends on acting fast, which is why W Advisory Oran Park checks contributions every pay cycle.

6. How much do Payday Super services cost?

The cost of Payday Super services depends on how many employees you have, how often you run payroll, the software you use and how much setup work is needed. Let us review your payroll first and give you clear pricing before starting, so you know exactly what ongoing support will cost.
